David Schwimmer in London, 2005 and 2006
West End and Mayfair, London · London, 2005 and 2006
David Schwimmer turns 60 today (UPI).
Born in New York on 2 November 1966 and raised in Los Angeles, he trained in theatre at Northwestern University and co-founded the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago. Then came Ross Geller. Friends ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004 and made him one of the most recognised faces on television.
A year after the final episode he chose the London stage. On 24 May 2005 he opened at the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in Some Girl(s), Neil LaBute's new play, directed by David Grindley (Variety).
By late summer 2006 he was back in town preparing his first feature film as a director, Run Fatboy Run, with Simon Pegg, Thandie Newton and Hank Azaria. Filming ran around London from late October into December (BBC News). The archive finds him at the end of August leaving J Sheekey in Covent Garden with a wave, and in the early hours of 2 September walking through the West End with David Walliams, who went on to make a cameo in the film. On 5 November, in the middle of the shoot, he left the Cuckoo Club on Swallow Street, Mayfair, in a beanie and a denim jacket.
Since then he has played Robert Kardashian in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, starred opposite Nick Mohammed in the Sky comedy Intelligence, and in 2025 led Goosebumps: The Vanishing on Disney+ (Variety).
