The Gallagher brothers: two nights, four years apart

Soho and Mayfair, London ยท 2008 and 2012

One night out in Soho. One Mayfair birthday bash that his brother skipped. Now Oasis are back, and my archive has the pictures. Oasis announced Oasis Live '27 on 14 September 2026, and the documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger landed on Disney+ on 9 October. So here are two nights from my archive, four years apart. One brother, then the other.

SOHO, 2008. Noel Gallagher outside the Groucho Club in the early hours of 3 April 2008. Press reports at the time (Mirror, NME and Daily Star, 4 April 2008) said he had been out with Noel Fielding and James Corden after the UK premiere of the Rolling Stones film Shine a Light. I watched him hand out money to a line of beggars outside the club. That is my recollection, and I have never forgotten it.

MAYFAIR, 2012. Liam Gallagher turned 40 on Friday 21 September 2012 and celebrated at Whisky Mist. The Mayfair club was booked out, and his wife, Nicole Appleton, helped organise it. Press reports (Daily Star, Metro and Mirror, 23 September 2012) named Natalie Appleton and Holly Willoughby among the guests. One name was missing: Noel did not come. The brothers were not speaking, and the band had been split since 2009.

A smile for the cameras. In 2008 the brothers' band was still together, by 2012 it had gone, and in 2026 it is back on the front pages. All pictures: Charles Pycraft, charlespycraft.co.uk.
