Liam Gallagher outside the Met Bar on Q Awards night, Mayfair 2005

London (Mayfair) ยท 2005

Oasis have been here before. In October 2005 they were the big winners at the Q Awards, taking Best Album for Don't Believe the Truth, which critics had hailed as a return to form, and the People's Choice award. Twenty one years on, the documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger began streaming on Disney+ on 9 October and every date of Oasis Live '27 has sold out. Here is Liam outside the Met Bar in Mayfair on the night of the awards.

MET BAR, OCTOBER 2005. Liam Gallagher outside the Met Bar on Old Park Lane in Mayfair on the night of 10 October 2005. That day Oasis had won Best Album for Don't Believe the Truth and the People's Choice award at the Q Awards at Grosvenor House in London.

The People's Choice award went to Oasis because they had collected more votes across all the categories than any other act, 230,000 in all. Coldplay took Best Act in the World Today, and Gorillaz won Best Video and Best Producer.

The Met Bar, in the Metropolitan Hotel, was a celebrity haunt of the Britpop years. Here is Liam at the foot of the steps behind a red rope, in a blue grey zip coat, jeans and white trainers.
